You may have heard that some politicians in Washington are proposing to eliminate or curtail family-based immigration, so-called “chain immigration”, in favor of “merit-based” immigration.

This is a step in the wrong direction for our country!  We are a proud nation of immigrants and we value family connections.  Family connections bring out the best in us all, which benefits our communities as a whole.

The research shows “family immigration drives small business creation, fuels innovation, promotes integration, ensures the maintenance of strong family support systems, and strengthens our nation.”  Check out this compelling article, “The Advantages of Family-based Immigration”, from the venerable American Immigration Council, published March 14, 2013.
